How to Prepare Your Home for House Painters

A little prep on your end helps your painting project go faster, smoother, and with better results. Here’s a simple checklist to get your home ready before the painters arrive.

Before Interior Painting

  • Move or group furniture toward the center of each room (we’ll cover and protect it)
  • Take down wall hangings, photos, and mirrors
  • Clear small items off surfaces and out of the work area
  • Secure pets in a quiet part of the home
  • Point out any specific concerns — stains, repairs, or delicate items

Before Exterior Painting

  • Move vehicles, grills, and patio furniture away from the work area
  • Trim back shrubs and plants touching the house
  • Make sure we have access to power and water spigots
  • Note any known problem areas — rot, leaks, or previous peeling

You don’t need to do the heavy lifting. As a prep-first painter, we take care of cleaning, sanding, patching, caulking, priming, and protecting your floors and belongings. The steps above just help us get started efficiently.
