Before and After Photos

Cream Bathroom and Bedroom Walls Repainted a Soft Mint Green
This project covered a hall bathroom and the bedroom next to it. Before the work, the bathroom walls were a plain cream. A green and tan leaf wallpaper border runs along the top of the walls, and the room has a dark wood vanity with a deep green marble top, white tile floors with small black diamonds, and white six-panel doors with brass knobs. The in-progress photo shows the bedroom with its furniture pushed to the center and wrapped in plastic, drop cloths on the carpet, and bare cream walls with the curtain rods taken down. In the after photos, both rooms are a soft mint green. In the bathroom, the new color picks up the leaf border, the green towels and the green vanity top, so the border looks like it belongs. In the bedroom, the mint walls brighten the space around the dark cherry bed, dresser, crib and chest. The white doors, baseboards and ceilings stay crisp.
How We Painted This Bathroom and Bedroom Light Green
- We moved the bedroom furniture to the middle of the room, wrapped it in plastic, and covered the carpet and bathroom tile with drop cloths.
- We took down curtain rods, towel bars and wall art, and removed switch plates so the walls could be painted cleanly behind them.
- We filled small holes from hardware and nails, sanded the patches flat, and spot primed them so they would not show through the light green.
- We taped the bottom edge of the wallpaper border in the bathroom so the new paint line would stay straight and the border would stay clean.
- We cut in along the ceiling, border, door casings and baseboards with a brush, then rolled two coats of mint green on the walls.
- We used a moisture-resistant wall paint in the bathroom, then reinstalled the towel bars, rods and covers and set the furniture back in place.
Paint Colors Similar to This Mint Green Bathroom and Bedroom
These are similar soft green colors to consider for a bathroom or bedroom. They are not the exact color used on these walls.
Sherwin-Williams Sea Salt SW 6204
A light green with a gray-blue lean. It is a softer version of this mint look and pairs well with white doors and dark wood.
Sherwin-Williams Rainwashed SW 6211
A fresh aqua green close to these walls. It ties in green countertops, towels and leaf patterns like the border in this bathroom.
Sherwin-Williams Oyster Bay SW 6206
A slightly deeper gray-green. It suits a bedroom with cherry furniture if you want a calmer, less bright green.
Questions About Painting a Bathroom and Bedroom Green
What kind of paint works best in a bathroom?
Bathrooms need a paint that resists moisture and mildew, since steam from showers can cause peeling and spots. Many painters use a satin or eggshell finish made for kitchens and baths. Good ventilation, like running the exhaust fan, also helps the paint last longer.
Can I keep my wallpaper border and paint around it?
Yes, if the border is in good shape and firmly attached. Painters tape the edge and cut a careful line below it. Choosing a wall color that pulls from the border, like the green here, helps it look planned. If the border is peeling or dated, removing it first is the better choice.
Will a light green look different in my home than on the chip?
Often, yes. Greens can shift a lot with daylight, bulbs and nearby colors like wood floors or green counters. A sample patch on two walls, viewed in morning and evening light, shows how the color really reads. Light greens can look brighter on a full wall than on a small chip.
